Finding Purpose in the Pieces: A Personal Reflection on Deliver Purpose

I’ve worked hard all my life. Like a lot of folks, I’ve always done what it takes—early mornings, late nights, side gigs, and steady hustle. But even with all that, the nice things—well-made furniture, stylish pieces, the kind of items you’re proud to have in your home—always felt just out of reach.

That’s what pushed me to become a thrifter. I got good at stretching a dollar, finding deals, and making secondhand feel like first-class. It wasn’t about being cheap—it was about making a home when resources were tight. And because of that, I know firsthand how valuable a place like Deliver Purpose really is.

Why browse the mall when you can discover treasures behind the hardware store? You never know, you might stumble upon a vintage lamp that sparks conversations—or a well-loved garden gnome that's had its glory days! #ThriftShopAdventures #HiddenGems

Deliver Purpose is a nonprofit based in Cornelius, NC, with an online store at deliverpurpose.org. We accept gently used furniture—name-brand, quality pieces—and resell them at prices that everyday people can afford. Not only do we help people furnish their homes affordably, but we go a step further: the proceeds help cover moving services for those in need.

That means when you shop at Deliver Purpose, you’re not just buying furniture—you’re helping someone move toward stability, toward safety, toward a new beginning. It’s a model that’s about more than commerce. It’s about compassion in motion.

That mission hits close to home for me, not just personally, but professionally. My company, Accelerated Deliveries, is a moving company—but we’re part of this same community. We move couches, beds, and dressers every day, but we never lose sight of the fact that these aren’t just items. They’re parts of people’s lives.

That’s why we’re proud of what Deliver Purpose is doing. Accelerated Deliveries works behind the scenes to help get these donated items where they need to go—whether it’s a customer who just scored a great deal online, or someone who’s finally getting help moving into a safe space. For us, it’s not just business—it’s being part of something bigger than a bottom line.

If you’ve ever felt like the nice things in life were just out of reach, I see you. And I want you to know there are places built with people like us in mind. Deliver Purpose is one of them. And I’m proud that I get to play role in helping that purpose get delivered.
